Irvine Sports has opened the newest and largest Indoor Karting facility in
Northern Ireland. The Formula-1 driver chose SuperSport after carefully
considering all the available options. The facility has well over 50,000 of
track area.
SuperSport Timing was chosen as the sole supplier of all track timing and facility management computer systems mainly due to the advanced display systems for drivers and spectators, and for the level of data available back from the timing system to enable the circuit management to monitor their facility usage and income.
The installation by SuperSport staff took place whilst last-minute building work was still taking place.
The final "switch-on" came the day before a big media launch. Everything went to plan and the launch all went according to schedule.
The
classic "Console" Timing and Scoring Software was chosen as the "hub" of the
system. This will run Arrive-and-Drive, Arrive-and-Race, Grand Prix (Heats)
racing and, of course, Endurance events.
This is linked to two sets of
WinTime Grafix Display monitors.
One
of these sets is in the main spectator area of the track and the other in the
large and attractive reception area.
This reception area houses some of Eddie's trophies and other memorabilia from his racing career up to and including Formula-1. It is worth a visit to this facility just to see these displays.
Smart
"Ride-Cards" are issued from the WinTime-Reception package, so once drivers are
booked in they can use other parts of the facility at their leisure before
taking part in a race on the track. The system is so flexible that a ride card
can be used at ANY time in the future. However, once used, it becomes unusable
again until processed by reception. This enables a circuit to keep a very tight
control over the track usage.
WinTime Workshop has also been installed to keep a track of all services, maintenance and repairs carried out to all the karts. This package is becoming more and more popular with tracks to prove that effective control is kept over kart maintenance and is almost invaluable as evidence should a "negligence" claim ever be brought to a circuit in our ever increasing litigation-happy society.
