Southridge Grand Prix, WV, USA
Southridge Grand Prix is a new FEC (Family Entertainment Center) style Indoor Kart track, incorporating 3 tracks. a "Slick" track, "Racing" Track and "Kids" track along with a laser-tag game area on the second floor.
SuperSport
has now installed a timing system for each of the tracks.
Every drive on the tracks is
timed by the SuperSport system which also, completely automatically controls the
"traffic" lights around the circuit AND regulates the speed of each kart
individually, reducing it's speed at the end of the ride, and only allowing
"racing" speed again when the kart has actually left the pits with a new driver.
Each ride automatically produces a lap-time "ticket" print for the driver to study afterwards, and spectators are kept involved from information displayed on large LED Lap-time display boards which also display rolling "adverts" for the track between races.
The system installed is FunTime-XP, part of the WinTime range and has many features specifically to assist Kart Track operators reduce staff input by automating such functions as kart speed control.
In
the event of an on-track incident the
operator can hit one
button on the keyboard which brings on all yellow "warning" lights around the
circuit, and reduces the karts' speed to walking pace enabling the track
operator to safely clear any problem before racing resumes again.
